Happy Halloween!

Our day in pictures:

Avery kept handing me stuff to put on her this morning. She's finally getting the hang of this dress up thing.
Here's that cheesy "SMILE" face again.
There...that's better. And she actually didn't mess with her hair for a whole shopping trip. Kinda impressed the headband lasted that long.
mmmm...Donuts at Nanny's
The Arnold girlies with Nanny!
Checking out the treat-or-treaters before we headed out. You know, sizing up the competition.
The crew.
Avery had a blast!
Checking out her loot.
The first of many candy pile pictures. One day I'll dig my old pictures out. It's a Hodnett tradition to dump out your candy and spend the next hour sorting, sampling, counting, and trading. I may have taken advantage of my 4 year old nephew for a couple Reese's. Sorry buddy. I'll make it up to you.

My Sweet Skeleton

Skeletons are normally pretty spooky to me--but how could I resist this cute get up?!

Pumpkin Patch

We finally made it to the pumpkin patch...err...patches. We had a pretty good time. Avery loved every second of it, and we enjoyed the weather. Here's some pictures from the day.

Here's that new face of hers again. When I tell her to SMILE, this is what I get! It totally makes me laugh.

I think this one might be the, "Stop Mom, you're embarrassing me."

Trunk-or-Treat

Our ward trunk-or-treat was tonight and when I got up this morning, I still didn't know what Avery was going to be. All week long I tried to get her to wear her cute ghost tutu, but she just screamed every time put it on her, see here for the picture, her face still hasn't changed.
So, I pulled out the clearance bunny costume I bought last year, and got the same resistance. I actually went out shopping to see what I could find and and then remembered that I had some hand-me-downs from my sis-in-law.

Add black leggings, a backwards black shirt and sparkly shoes and we've got a LADY BUG!

I'll sacrifice my pride from my totally closed eyes for the only family picture we had taken tonight...

She's one special lady bug though...she doesn't eat aphids. She prefers cupcakes.

Oh, and here's her latest dance move. She learned how to twirl at Disneyland when she dances. It's pretty cute.

AND...while we were having a tickle fight, I spied a MOLAR growing in this girl's mouth! Creepy. Perfect for Halloween.

Cling-On

Well, good news. We only had one outfit change today because of Avery's diaper situation. I actually called the doctor because I was worried about her poor running bum. He said it's been going around and can last a whole week. Yuck!

Today I could really tell she wasn't feeling well. She slept A LOT and just read stories on my lap most of the day. Anytime I got up to do anything, she clung to my leg. I would have been annoyed, but I was feeling too helpless to be annoyed with her. Hopefully tomorrow will be a little better.

I snapped these pictures of her clinging to Brian...then I asked her to smile. Apparently that's her new smiling face. I kept asking her to smile and "say cheese" and I got the same goofy face. It's giving me a complex. Do I look like a one-eyed ogre when I smile? Let's hope it's just her Halloween look.

Non-Stop

Poor Avery has been having some tummy trouble these last few days. She threw up Monday night and hasn't been the same since. It was so sad. We forgot to turn on the monitor, so when Brian went to check on her an hour after I put her down she was asleep...huddled in the only clean corner of her crib, covered in loveliness. These past two days she's gone through three outfits a day. Except, today I forgot to pack some extra clothes while I was running errands. So, I ran into a thrift store and bought some cheap pants and scored this!

The best part...it folds flat and only cost 6 bucks! I was pretty excited. Almost worth the non-stop laundry that's been happening three days straight.

Soaking in the Sun

We're trying to enjoy the last bit of sunshine in the weather. Although, I really am ready to put on a jacket and enjoy a cool breeze, I know I'll be longing for the sun when it goes away.

We took a picnic lunch to the park with our neighbor buddies and enjoyed the day.

Halloween

So, of all the holidays, Halloween is the most looked over at our house. I don't have very many decorations and I'm not a huge fan of dressing up. In fact, the last time I did was when I was one year too old to trick-or-treat and went anyway. So, I was feeling pretty festive dressing Avery in a Halloween shirt today that I picked up on clearance last year.

oooo...look it glows in the dark.

Here's her spooky face. (actually, I tried to take a picture of her glowing shirt and forgot to turn off the flash...so it's her "That's a really bright light" face.

Missing you.

Can you tell these girls missed their grandpa while we were on vacation?

He was missing them too.

Touch-a-Truck

I have to give a shout out to my neighborhood google group who made me aware of this awesome "Touch-a-Truck" event today. It was just a free little thing in the parking lot of a lumber yard, but totally cool. I actually learned a lot if you can believe it. Oh, and scored a free t-shirt and some candy. That always makes for a happy me!

Seriously big trucks.

My sister in law in a race car. And yes, she climbed through the window to get inside. I didn't know the head rest wrapped all the way around the right side and they have to listen to their crew chief on the radio to tell when that side is clear because they can't see out that side at all. Crazy! And the trucks that haul them carry two cars on the top and have a full tool garage and a living room hang out down below. An elevator lifts the cars to the top. Pretty fancy.

Avery was more impressed with the reflectors and the wheels. It was pretty cute to watch her watch herself.

My favorite machine of the day.

This excavator was pretty cool to see. The chair is super bouncy to account for all the bumping and bouncing they do in their job. It would be a hard office to be in 8 hours a day...but a fun thing to explore. Plus, we picked up some cuties in the scooper.

They had so many trucks there that you could climb into and see up close and personal. Semis, tow trucks, police cars...which I sat in the back seat of. It's a plastic insert now with cut outs for your arms to fit with cuffs on. Easier to clean up after the criminals they said. Eww. There was an ambulance, a S.W.A.T. hummer, a marine something-or-other with tires up to my shoulders. Even the bomb squad van and their little robot. That thing was pretty sweet. I was actually fascinated by the garbage truck. Bet you didn't know those things can hold 10 tons of garbage at a time. Whew, no wonder they smell so bad driving down the road!

Anyway, the day would not be complete without a fire truck. Which, we caught just in time because right after we were done checking it out, they cleared it out to go on a call. Siren and all. It made for quite a fun morning.

And check out the cute piggies I put in her hair. They were pretty adorable. So glad her hair is getting long enough I can quit doing the one little palm tree thing.

Good To Be Home.

We spent the day recooping from our trip. We stayed in jammies until, well, dinnertime when there was an incident with a water cup, and played with our overpriced souvenirs. It's good to be home.

Check out her sunkissed goofy grin-filled face! I love her!
