I have to give a shout out to my neighborhood google group who made me aware of this awesome "Touch-a-Truck" event today. It was just a free little thing in the parking lot of a lumber yard, but totally cool. I actually learned a lot if you can believe it. Oh, and scored a free t-shirt and some candy. That always makes for a happy me!

Seriously big trucks.

My sister in law in a race car. And yes, she climbed through the window to get inside. I didn't know the head rest wrapped all the way around the right side and they have to listen to their crew chief on the radio to tell when that side is clear because they can't see out that side at all. Crazy! And the trucks that haul them carry two cars on the top and have a full tool garage and a living room hang out down below. An elevator lifts the cars to the top. Pretty fancy.

Avery was more impressed with the reflectors and the wheels. It was pretty cute to watch her watch herself.

My favorite machine of the day.

This excavator was pretty cool to see. The chair is super bouncy to account for all the bumping and bouncing they do in their job. It would be a hard office to be in 8 hours a day...but a fun thing to explore. Plus, we picked up some cuties in the scooper.
They had so many trucks there that you could climb into and see up close and personal. Semis, tow trucks, police cars...which I sat in the back seat of. It's a plastic insert now with cut outs for your arms to fit with cuffs on. Easier to clean up after the criminals they said. Eww. There was an ambulance, a S.W.A.T. hummer, a marine something-or-other with tires up to my shoulders. Even the bomb squad van and their little robot. That thing was pretty sweet. I was actually fascinated by the garbage truck. Bet you didn't know those things can hold 10 tons of garbage at a time. Whew, no wonder they smell so bad driving down the road!
Anyway, the day would not be complete without a fire truck. Which, we caught just in time because right after we were done checking it out, they cleared it out to go on a call. Siren and all. It made for quite a fun morning.

And check out the cute piggies I put in her hair. They were pretty adorable. So glad her hair is getting long enough I can quit doing the one little palm tree thing.
