Little Orphan Avery...and a BIRTHDAY!

I promise, when I dressed Avery for church this morning, she looked adorable. As we were walking into the meeting, the stench was undeniable. So, I grabbed wipes and a diaper and ran to change the babes. Well, my first church blow-out. Fabulous. Thankfully I was wearing a sweater I could cover her with or else I would have had to walk back into the meeting with just a diapered child. Also glad I thought to throw a back up in the bag this morning. Too bad she's totally grown out of it. Next time, I'll remember an extra pair of tights...oh and something that fits. I felt like a horrible mother all three hours and tried to keep her covered with a blanket. I've been feeling especially frumpy lately, but I didn't want people to think I'd pass that on to my child. I wish she could wear a sign or something that says, "My other outfit was actually cute, but breakfast went right through me." Maybe I'll market that one along with the exercise ball in the baby aisle.

Aside from the morning fiasco, we had quite the day. I'm exhausted. Sunday, day of rest, rrrright. Not when someone has a BIRTHDAY! My man turned 34 today. Wowsers. I was having a hard time with my last birthday turning 25.

I do have to tell you a funny story from last week. The family sitting across the aisle from us at church had an overflowing row so the three-year-old came with his sticker book and sat next to me while Avery and Brian were out. After a few minutes, he asked me, "Is your dad here?" I answered no. I thought it was odd because I'm sure he'd only met my dad once or twice. A few more minutes passed and he asked, "Where is your baby?" I told him she was out with Brother Arnold and he said, "Yeah! Your Dad!!" haha...it totally made me laugh...after I cringed.

Anyway, we had some family over tonight and I made some goodies and we just visited. It was fun. Avery wasn't having any of it. She's still getting over the tail end of her cold and there were lots of people over and it was just too loud and too much. I didn't snap many pictures because I was tending the crankster. Anyway, here's a couple:

My new favorite treat. Chocolate caramel covered pretzels. Yeah, I keep saying this extra 30 pounds I'm toting is baby weight...I'm sure the pretzels are to blame.

Avery's head and her Arnold cousins. All girls! They were so cute trying to keep her happy and entertained!

And well, the night would not be complete without the birthday boy himself. And since I didn't take any pictures, he gets to be embarrassed by the video I took. Note the AWESOME german chocolate cake I made per his request. I wish it looked as gorgeous as it tasted. Oh, and the even AWESOMER candles with colored flames. It's true, I'm a great wife. Happy Birthday Babe, I sure love you!

"Where is your dad?..!" Oh dear!!! Poor Brian, but I'm not feeling too sorry for him 'cause he has a woman to make him German Chocolate cake. Holy cow. That looks good! Love the stories...Avery's blowout and the too small outfit. Love it!

Sorry that I had to come and ruin Avery's day. I promise I asked Austin if I was really invited before we came over! I guess I'll just have to spend some more time with that chunky love so I don't bring her to tears every time she looks at me...
