Remembering...

I'm embarrassed to say this is probably the first Memorial Day I've thought about and remembered the cost of our country's freedom. Shocking for me to see the flags in just one small cemetery for each of the people who have fought for our liberty. I don't know how I've missed this big picture before. Again, totally embarrassing.
Well, it became very real as we attended a small service in the cemetery where Brian and I both have a Grandfather buried. One of my parents' friends lost a son in Iraq 4 years ago and he spoke along with a Sergeant and a couple of Chaplins. Pretty neat, and moving as well. I think we'll make this a Memorial Day tradition for our family. It really gave me a boost of patriotism, and became much more than just a lazy day off.

I sure wish that darn truck wasn't in the way, you should have seen the hundreds of flags in the cemetery. Truly awesome.
