Avery LOVES it! You can't tell from this picture, she's playing it cool, but she'll roll around all over it and stare at the different patterns. So fun. I think I may make another one with the scraps, baby doll size for her to have when she's older for the inevitable dolls in my future.

Here it is!
So here's my little project that kept me busy for a week. Totally fun to hunt down all the fabric and put it all together. I can see how people really get excited about quilting.

Remembering...
I'm embarrassed to say this is probably the first Memorial Day I've thought about and remembered the cost of our country's freedom. Shocking for me to see the flags in just one small cemetery for each of the people who have fought for our liberty. I don't know how I've missed this big picture before. Again, totally embarrassing.
Well, it became very real as we attended a small service in the cemetery where Brian and I both have a Grandfather buried. One of my parents' friends lost a son in Iraq 4 years ago and he spoke along with a Sergeant and a couple of Chaplins. Pretty neat, and moving as well. I think we'll make this a Memorial Day tradition for our family. It really gave me a boost of patriotism, and became much more than just a lazy day off.

I sure wish that darn truck wasn't in the way, you should have seen the hundreds of flags in the cemetery. Truly awesome.

Sad Sunday
Poor Avery has had a rough couple days. I think it's teeth. Although, I think it's teeth anytime she's got a runny nose, or is generally cranky, so maybe it's just a cold, but she's had a fever since last night. It finally broke after her afternoon nap, but here's a little video of her after the Tylenol kicked in. We stripped her down to help her temp come down quicker.
Later, this poor girl lost her cookies...and breakfast and lunch it seems from the volume. So, she got to ride home in a diaper. I just had to laugh because she looks like a little homeless girl with that sad hair and her naked top.

Another exciting tidbit I'm sure you don't care about--I've got boysenberries!! I actually have only been out to check on them twice since Avery's taken over my world, and haven't watered them once. Brian cut them back just about a month ago because they were taking over our entire backyard. I peeked out at them today and even ate a few! Our abandoned blackberries have blossoms and fruit as well. I'm pretty happy about it.

I'm busy...
Sorry, I've been busy finishing up my quilt. Yes, I'm making a quilt. So, here's your picture of the day. I've spent waaaay too long pinning the finishing touches to write much of anything. First, because I've pricked my fingers so much it's a little uncomfortable to type and second, I just hate ironing and pinning ANYTHING. So with that said, G'night.

Can't wait for your big reveal Monday when I sew this puppy up!

Fuzzy Fabric
So I've been busy today sewing my little project and remembered I had batting from an unfinished project I've had since high school. (see, I told you I was a terrible finisher of things.) Well, I pulled out the old fabric which now reminds me of Madonna Inn, but Avery LOVED it! She rolled around all over it's fuzzy leopard-ness.

Here's a sneak peek! I'm getting close!

Lucky
I'm feeling pretty lucky today. Well, not TOTALLY lucky, because this ridiculous tendonitis garbage has been flared up the last few days to the point that it's hard to walk up stairs and get up and down off the ground. It's impossible to play with a baby this way and be happy about it. I'm especially mad because I had just spent a week faithfully working out to Jillian Michaels, riding my bike, and tracking all my food. (blasted Jillian, I blame you for this flare up!) So, my motivation is all lost now and I ate about 10 caramels while watching Biggest Loser. Not my finest hour. Oh, wait, I was telling you how lucky I am. Doesn't this sound lucky to you?
Alright, well, I AM lucky. I've got a totally awesome husband who has been taking the kiddo as soon as he gets home so I can rest my leg. He takes her for a walk, feeds her and even made dinner for me tonight. I peeked in the kitchen to lend a hand with the domestic duo and this is what I found while Brian made dinner.

Lucky, right?

Projects...
I'm a really good at starting projects, but HORRIBLE and finishing them. I tend to take on a little more than is necessary. For example, I have a box FULL of ribbon, alligator clips, and flowers to make hair things for Avery. I've only made about 5. Now they are collecting dust. Post baby crafting is pretty much impossible around here. But, I've started a new project that I VOW to finish.

I've been cutting since Brian got home to make something adorable for Avery. Can't wait to finish fabric hunting and put it all together. Stay tuned for the big reveal!
Thanks Grandpa for entertaining the babes while we recuperated from fabric shopping. Is it exhausting for anyone else?

Jealous.
I'm not really a jealous person...but I'll make an exception for Giants baseball tickets in the 8th row on the third base line. Brian got invited by an attorney friend in the bay area and took his sister to the game today. I hope they had a great time. Giants won, so I'm sure they had a blast. I'll get my chance when I don't have a baby attached to my hip, but I'm dying to hear the report.
I took a few pictures before he left this morning in his Giants get-up, but he took the camera, so I'll upload them when he gets back...and hope he got a few from the game.

Those are the puppy dog faces of, "Why are you leaving me Dad?"

Brian took 3 pictures while he was there. Lame. Apparently he hasn't caught on to the whole picture-a-day resolution thing. Oh well. He did capture Mr. Lincecum pitching a shut out game, so I guess I'll forgive him.
Megan, help me out with some cooler pics please!

Duplos.
Now that the sun has returned, my mom and I got back on our bikes this morning and hauled Avery around in her chariot. It was such a gorgeous day! Afterward, we got to play with Samuel again!! Two days in one week! Lucky girl. She tried her hand at Duplos today. She slobbers on them pretty good.
A few of her thoughts from the day...
"Whatcha doing cousin??"

"I'm gonna get one of those blocks if it kills me!"

"Now what am I supposed to do with all these!?!?"

"I guess I'll just play peek-a-boo." (check out those chompers.)

Trouble.
Trouble...right here in river city. With a capital "T" and that rhymes with "P" and that stands for Pool! (or tub...but you get the idea...water related. But I think they were talking pool table in that show.)
Now I want to watch Music Man.
Oh well. Avery's new obsession is the ledge in the tub. So my view of her is totally her back side the whole time she's in the bath. I'm just waiting for the day she gives herself a nice goose egg from bonking her head. THAT'S gonna be fun.

I'm also kicking myself a little for missing a couple picture perfect moments today: Like when my activity day girls were completely encircling Avery on the floor all vying for her attention and she wasn't even giving them the time of day...or when I visited some good friends I haven't seen in a long time and Avery smiled and laughed and played with them.
I will get better at pulling my camera out, I promise!

Cousins.
Avery got to play with her cousins today. And when I say, "Play," I really mean she was entertained by her cousins today. It was a nice little break since she's been so cranky lately. It's like she's been a different person these last few days. So sad...and HARD! I'm missing my happy, smiley girl.
The little man shared his favorite show with Avery today. I love how she's lounging on her side!

He even played with some dolls with her to keep her happy. Such a sweet boy.

Cabin Fever
I used to be a homebody. Until Avery came along, I could spend a whole week happily at home. NOT anymore. I have to get out of my four walls with this girl or I get the dreaded cabin fever. The last couple days it's been such gloomy weather we've been cooped up and haven't ventured out for a walk. We're both going a little crazy.

Well, Avery a little more than I am.

Stormy Sunday
We had a random thunder/lightning/hail storm today so after church we ate hot soup and just stayed inside and played with Avery. It was nice and relaxing and we all managed to sneak in a little snooze. SOOO nice.
She's become a little kamikaze jumper in this jumperoo. I'll get some video of it, but it makes me laugh. She LOVES it! (which means, mama does too!)

Killin' Time
We had a little extra time before Avery's bath tonight, so Brian let her play the piano. She loves it! I should have taken video because she was squawking. My little birdie. Anyway, she'd bang on a few notes, and look and me and squeal...then concentrate on the keys again and look back at me to make sure I heard how pretty her song was. I just hope she's this enthusiastic about the piano when it comes time to teach her!

Story Time
I found some new fun books at the thrift store today and Brian was reading them to Avery before bath tonight. She doesn't always run around the house in her diaper, but she totally smeared green beans all over a cute dress that needed to be oxi-cleaned. She loves her Daddy...even if she does call him "Bubba."

I'm blaming Blogger!
So I got online last night to blog your daily dose of Avery, and the site was down!??! DOWN! Don't they know I'm a perfectionist and HATE that they've marred my perfect record! It's okay, I'll just post date it. HA! That'll teach 'em! I really didn't start this resolution to blog everyday, just to take a picture everyday. But, I'm already 5 months in, so maybe I'll keep it going. I may not wash my makeup off every night, but man, I'll get my blogging in!
Here's Avery in her new biking accessory. She pulls her sun hat off in the bike trailer a.k.a "princess chariot" and then the sun is in her sweet little eyes. Baseball cap=perfect solution.

I also just noticed, she looks odd without her hair.

Our Evening
So, Avery was totally restless this evening, and my allergies were going crazy or else I would have taken her for a walk. None of her toys seemed to hold her attention for more than a few seconds, so after a couple minutes, this is what the floor looked like...

Check out the bored look on her face. yeah kid, you and me both!
She finally humored me with a glance at a fun book for a second and then looked at me like, "What else you got momma?"
