Food, Glorious Food!!

Two days in and this girl is such a good eater! She didn't even need a bib. So impressed! She's totally proud of herself, it's pretty cute.

She's even good at telling me when she's all done. What a face!

Celebration!

We've survived 4,344 hours with Avery. Of which, Brian informed me, we've only slept about 800 of. If you haven't done the math yet that's SIX MONTHS!! We celebrated with a girl's day four generations strong! Such fun!

Avery and her Great-Grandma Foote. Her new best friend. She was all smiles today. I'm always glad when that happens because she's in the "stranger danger" phase where she's not so willing to let people hold her. But anything for Grandma-Great!

We also fed Avery rice cereal for the first time. She's been interested in the food we eat for about a month now but I really wanted to wait like the pediatrician recommended. It was pretty fun. I'm totally impressed with how well she did. Here's some video:

I am starting to realize how fast she's growing up. It doesn't feel so quick at 2 in the morning, but I can't believe we've had her 6 months!

Monday, Monday...

I know I've told you before, but I do love a Monday. I think because Sundays are so crazy and we spend the whole afternoon trying to keep Avery from having a meltdown after church, so Monday comes and I can relax and hang out all day at home with my girl in my jammies if I want. Today, that's what I wanted. It was just what we both needed.

Little Orphan Avery...and a BIRTHDAY!

I promise, when I dressed Avery for church this morning, she looked adorable. As we were walking into the meeting, the stench was undeniable. So, I grabbed wipes and a diaper and ran to change the babes. Well, my first church blow-out. Fabulous. Thankfully I was wearing a sweater I could cover her with or else I would have had to walk back into the meeting with just a diapered child. Also glad I thought to throw a back up in the bag this morning. Too bad she's totally grown out of it. Next time, I'll remember an extra pair of tights...oh and something that fits. I felt like a horrible mother all three hours and tried to keep her covered with a blanket. I've been feeling especially frumpy lately, but I didn't want people to think I'd pass that on to my child. I wish she could wear a sign or something that says, "My other outfit was actually cute, but breakfast went right through me." Maybe I'll market that one along with the exercise ball in the baby aisle.

Aside from the morning fiasco, we had quite the day. I'm exhausted. Sunday, day of rest, rrrright. Not when someone has a BIRTHDAY! My man turned 34 today. Wowsers. I was having a hard time with my last birthday turning 25.

I do have to tell you a funny story from last week. The family sitting across the aisle from us at church had an overflowing row so the three-year-old came with his sticker book and sat next to me while Avery and Brian were out. After a few minutes, he asked me, "Is your dad here?" I answered no. I thought it was odd because I'm sure he'd only met my dad once or twice. A few more minutes passed and he asked, "Where is your baby?" I told him she was out with Brother Arnold and he said, "Yeah! Your Dad!!" haha...it totally made me laugh...after I cringed.

Anyway, we had some family over tonight and I made some goodies and we just visited. It was fun. Avery wasn't having any of it. She's still getting over the tail end of her cold and there were lots of people over and it was just too loud and too much. I didn't snap many pictures because I was tending the crankster. Anyway, here's a couple:

My new favorite treat. Chocolate caramel covered pretzels. Yeah, I keep saying this extra 30 pounds I'm toting is baby weight...I'm sure the pretzels are to blame.

Avery's head and her Arnold cousins. All girls! They were so cute trying to keep her happy and entertained!

And well, the night would not be complete without the birthday boy himself. And since I didn't take any pictures, he gets to be embarrassed by the video I took. Note the AWESOME german chocolate cake I made per his request. I wish it looked as gorgeous as it tasted. Oh, and the even AWESOMER candles with colored flames. It's true, I'm a great wife. Happy Birthday Babe, I sure love you!

Happy Saturday!

I can count on one hand the number of times the nose sucker was used. Ahh, happy day!

Though my head cold is almost gone, I managed to make myself sick eating treats I've been making for the big man's birthday tomorrow. The stomach ache is well worth it.

Volume Anyone?

That's one serious morning do. Next time, remind me to open the blinds instead of letting the flash go off. I'm a slow learner. Especially this week while Avery and I are getting over this sick bug. YUCK!

SOOO, after I calmed her hair down, (it's still a mess), I turned on the camera for you all to hear her say my name!! Heh, it's a fluke really. When she gets irritated sometimes she says, "ma ma ma ma." But I'm totally claiming it as her first word. ESPECIALLY because she and Brian watch Swedish Chef all the time and I'll die if her first ACTUAL words are 'bork, bork.'

Escape Artist

We should have probably moved the little one to the big tub awhile ago, but alas, the thought of leaning over the real tub sends my already swollen knee into convulsions. I'll have to suck it up soon because she discovered the faucet handle and has been doing baby chin-ups for a couple days now. Pretty soon she'll pull herself clean out!

And, just for a good laugh, here's how Brian keeps Avery's towel warm. Hey, if the crown fits, right!?

Poor Thing

That's my girl. Snot maker extraordinaire. I'm sure she produced her own weight in the stuff today alone. Impressive, I know. I'll spare you the miserable details of the day, but it was rough. She had a terrible time eating because she couldn't breathe out of her nose at all so it was swallow, swallow, cry, cry....CRY, swallow...for about 20 minutes each time she ate. Oh, that's right, I'm sparing the details.

I am happy to report I'm getting REALLY good with a nose sucker.

The Many Faces of Avery

This girl's expressions crack me up. This morning while playing on the ground I kept snapping shots, and it made me laugh while going through them to realize she just gradually got more irritated and then sad. heh.

Also...she's got her first real sick bug. She's had a little cold before, but this evening, she threw up...not to be confused with spit up. It was scary...and gross...and a lot....and EVERYWHERE. She wasn't breathing for a minute and I totally freaked out. After a little nap, she did it again. We put her in the bath to calm her down and help her relax, but after puking in the tub, we called the doc. He said it's probably a stomach flu and that we're in for a long night.

Don't you wish you were me?

Hi Up There!

Sorry for the terrible angle, but the pictures were slim pickin's today. It's so funny when she arches her back and looks straight up at you with her pretty little eyes.
