What do you do?

So what do you do when all day long I've been giving this little one GOLD with my animal noises and songs and stories and patty-cake and toys and this is the response I get...

I'm trying not to take it too personally since she's been a little sick the last couple days, but I already see my teenage daughter saying, "Really Mom, Stop. You're embarrassing me."

Where, oh where, is it going??

So, my hair has been falling out for about a month now. Gobs and gobs of it at a time. It's not a big deal except that I'll have to stock up on drain-o for the shower and I have to clean my bathroom floor daily...okay the three days I do something other than pull it back. I've always had thick hair so the prospect of being able to blow-dry it in under 15 minutes sounds appealing.
I'm not the only one losing hair though. (no not Brian...he kissed his good-bye awhile ago. If he had any left before Avery it would surely be gone by now.)
Our little lady, born with more hair than a spider monkey, is shedding like crazy! It's really sad. At first it was okay because it was getting long enough to cover the balding spots...but it's getting worse with patches of long hair and patches of no hair! Poor girl.

Before bath time, I had a little fun with the hair that's left and gave her some big Texas hair.

Look at this sad bald head...you could drive a hot wheels on it!

Here's a nice little comb-over action to cover at least one side of the hairless patch...it makes the other bald side look like the part in her hair. I don't really know what else to do with it. Her hair's too fine for clips and headbands get swallowed up in the fluff on top.

Just recording another day of tired eyes. Poor thing. I need to go out and pick up a copy of Babywise, I know. I've read The Happiest Baby on the Block and that helped us through the newborn phase, she was sleeping 7 hours a night sometimes and always at least 5 at a time. After her blasted shots, we haven't been able to get her back! I'm half-way through The No-Cry Sleep Solution but it sounds like a long process. I nearly always fall asleep reading it, so I have to re-read the same thing 50 times. Ugh! Can I hire someone for a week to sleep train Avery?? Am I naive in thinking it should only take a week?

My only solice is knowing that our neighbors are having twins in a month. I feel for them...If they can deal with two...I can handle one.

Let the sock battle begin.

Avery's obsessed with her little chunky legs and everytime I change her diaper the legs go up and she grabs her toes. It's pretty cute. But today, she figured out how to pull her socks off and I think it will be a never ending battle now. Good thing she has cute feet.

We also had a delicious dinner thanks to melskitchencafe.com. I need to figure out how to stage better food pictures but this cream cheese chicken soup hit the spot. I tried some new rolls and they came out huge because I only wanted to make one pan, but were just as scrumptious dipped in the super creamy broth.

alright...I've got a super cranky baby I need to go get...from a cranky husband. Wish us luck tonight and maybe some sleep. We're DYING here.

Good Morning

This is how we get ready for the day...when i have the energy to put on make up or fix my hair. This is also how we vacuum, clean up and fold laundry. No wonder I've got a backache I can't get rid of. I'm feeling quite pregnant again.

What a difference a year makes.

JANUARY 5TH, 2010

JANUARY 5TH, 2011

I don't have much else to say except that it's shocking to think a year ago my little Avery was hardly the size of a pea, and although every night I think, "What did I get myself into??" I love her to pieces.

I spent the day at my parent's house with my little nephew and niece and we built a very cool "space hotel" and "launch station" out of duplos. I love duplos. I told Samuel we should take a picture and he told me he'd do a good picture and then a crazy picture. Thanks Austin.

I love this boy to pieces as well. He's such a smart guy and totally sweet. This three-year-old knows the Pledge of Allegiance and will randomly say, "I love you Marissa." and kiss my cheek. He loves Avery too he says, and will tell me, "I think Avery likes me." She does. Especially when he does things like this:
whenever she would cry he'd ask, "I think she wants me to sing to her." It's usually always "Jingle Bells." But today i heard "Silent Night" and "Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes." Thanks Samuel for being such an awesome guy. I hope this won't embarrass you when you're a teenager.

Kitchen Helper

So this Bumbo seat is one of my favorite things. Since I can't put Avery down during her naps without her waking up and screaming, I'm stuck doing everything while she's awake. We were having the Elders over for dinner so I had to get something cooking this morning. She'll sit in her seat for a good half-hour while I get dinner ready or do the dishes. The other bonus...I scored it for $2 at a garage sale! Yes, my little secret's out about garage sales. They're the best! I actually have 2 or these...the first one I bought for 10 bucks but it came with the little tray i can put toys on and stuff. Anyway, most people keep a kitchenaid on their counter..not me...a bumbo seat now has permanent residence in my kitchen.

ps...this tired expression is the result of being awake since 3am. heh...before getting in the shower, I pulled out my makeup remover to get the mascara smear off from under my eyes and NOTHING CAME OFF! Yes, the dark circles are here to stay. Please let tonight be better. I'd love any advice for how to keep your baby asleep...we get her to sleep easy at the beginning of the night, but once she wakes up to eat after 3 hours, it's a continuous struggle to get her back to sleep!

Giant Jumper

So I got this bouncer for a steal at a garage sale when I was newly pregnant and pulled it out of storage this morning. After putting it all together, the excitement lasted maybe 5 minutes. I think it might be a little more fun for her when she can move around in it and actually play with the toys instead of stare. She never seemed like a small baby to me but today she looked swallowed up in this big jumper. Hopefully in another month she'll love it.

Picture Day 2

Are you impressed? I'm 2 for 2. I can't guarantee that I'll post everyday because lets face it, I couldn't even finish my 30 days of Thanksgiving. (I have a post half-done that I keep trying to wrap up to complete that project.) Anyway, a couple pictures from after church. Check out her tired eyes...she doesn't sleep anymore. She woke up at 1am to eat and then 3 this morning...then 3:40...then 4. Well, you get the idea. She was up at 7 for good and then had a 20 minute little nap at church. She finally slept for about 40 minutes at 2 this afternoon. Anyone want a baby? Don't let that coy little smile fool you, she's EXHAUSTING!! She does love to stand up lately. It's pretty cute to see her so proud of herself. I'm upping the anty today with some video. She's been giggling for a couple weeks now and it's so cute! But everytime I grab the camera the giggles stop. So today I finally got some giggling on video.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So I'm gonna make this quick. I thought getting a laptop for my birthday would help me blog more frequently because I could hop into bed at the end of the day and just type. HA! The last thing I want to do when I crawl into bed after hours of patty-cake and bouncing is blog. BLAH!

Alas, for my faithful following of three, I must wish you a HAPPY 2011 and share my resolutions. Truthfully, I'm not in love with resolutions. I seem to make them on a daily basis...and sometimes they barely make it through that day. But I've been inspired...and guilt tripped.

I've been enjoying going through slides of my Granddad's that my uncle is scanning and putting online for us to reminisce. My Granddad took pictures of everything. Outside a restaurant, while we played games, sitting around talking. You name it, he has a picture of it. Even my first job he had me pose for his camera. At the time I was mortified. But some of the moments he captured are priceless.

As I look through my own pictures of my little Avery,...or even my married life for that matter, I realize I hardly ever take out my camera. I don't have an eye for a good shot or a fancy slr camera, so I'm deterred from capturing our own priceless moments.

So, I've resolved to take a picture EVERYDAY! Yes, everyday. It might be my baby sleeping, or my dinner...or my cute new pillow case from my favorite lady, but 2011 will be a year of pictures.

#26

I'm thankful for QUIET TIME!

We've had a couple fun filled days with family, laughing and visiting, and kiddies running around in the background making lots of fun loud memories. But at the end of the day, I'm so happy to come home and snuggle with my little baby with some peace and quiet. I sure love my nieces and nephews, but my ears are still ringing tonight.
