Too Quiet

You know that moment just passed the enjoyable quiet, when it gets too quiet? Well, I had to go investigate and this is what I found...

Caught you sneaky pants! The mom in me was nervous she'd fall, but the engineer in me was beyond proud. Love that smart cookie.

She's Talking...and WALKING!

What's there left to say, she's said it all? It's so cliche, but this girl is growing up so fast! It's exciting and sad with each little step. She's definitely not a baby anymore. :(

A Boo Boo

Avery got her first real injury today. The bottom of the door from the garage to the house swiped her arm pretty good and made her bleed. It was so sad. Especially since I didn't realize it at the time and just thought she was crying because I headed into the garage for some stuff.
So, Brian took her to the pool to make it up to her.
She has actually had one worse injury. The first time I cut her fingernails, I chopped of the tip of her thumb. You want to talk about blood? It was everywhere. The poor girl wasn't even a month old and I'd given her a gimp thumb. I didn't cut her nails for a long time after that. I still think about it every time I get the clippers out. Just thought I'd confess.

We love birthdays!

We love you Grandma!
Thanks for having a birthday so Avery could try out a new ride
Play with her cousins
And be the caboose in the cutest train I've ever seen.
What a way to celebrate Avery's 11 months! Hope you had a great one!

ps...I forgot to turn on your dishwasher.

pps...That cake is another recipe from Mel's. It overflowed in my oven and nearly burnt my house down. But to tell you the truth, I would have been okay with that because is was so delicious. I don't even mind the cocoa-carbon smell I'll have in my home for the next three days. I am a little bummed I didn't get to use my fire extinguisher. I may just have to take it out to a field and give it a whirl. Am I the only one who wants to try one out?

Costco Watermelon

I've got the perfect solution for the other half of the Costco-sized watermelon taking up space in your fridge. And the half eaten bunch of newly browned bananas on your counter top.

Enter: My culinary hero and the culprit of my STILL looking 6 month pregnant body. But good news, this recipe is totally fresh and healthy! If this picture doesn't make your mouth water, just read how simple it is to make and you'll have your family night treat in no time! Find the recipe HERE! I've actually tried it with honey, maple syrup and without any sweetener and prefer it without. If your watermelon's good enough, it doesn't need anything extra. I also tend to have a heavy hand with the lemon juice. Yum. I want another one right now. OH, and I'd like to challenge you to a watermelon cutting contest after checking out her pictures. I sliced and diced a whole one in less than 3 minutes. Can you tell she's my idol?

Did I mention it's also really great (without the honey of course) for cooling down a baby with a 101 fever this afternoon? She held onto that cup with a death grip for a long time. These teeth are driving both of us crazy!!

I promise, I do clothe my child. But Sunday after church we usually take her dress off for lunch and are just lazy about putting clothes back on her. She doesn't seem to mind.

Ultimate Couch Potato

Seriously...belly hangin' out an all.
She actually loves to just play on the couch. She'll roll over, crawl to one side, face dive, run back to the other side, peek over the edge. She loves it. I just got lucky and snapped that funny one while she was resting for a moment.

She can also get on and off her bus by herself now. I took some video but I'm too tired to upload it, so you'll have to wait till tomorrow. I'm sure you're super bummed.

Friday!

I sure love Friday. Almost as much as I love Monday. Brian and I have been on one date since Avery was born. Is that pathetic? I'll answer that for you. Yes. She's almost one. It's terribly pathetic. We brought her out tonight with us and some family to BJ's. Mmmm...Root beer and pizza. Yeah, I love Friday.
People say Avery looks like me, but check her out with Brian. Am I the only one who sees it?
This is what happens after a fun evening. Either that, or she's sad we got creamed at Wii Jeopardy. She'll learn how to be a good sport someday. Or, just how to win like her Mama.

She thinks she's funny.

She's got a new trick. She guzzles water like a maniac and then lets it slowly dribble out of her mouth. Impressive, right? There's a reason she's still in jammies. I'll cut her some slack though because I just noticed she's cutting another tooth up top.

Look at that, she's sharing with you. Anyone want a drink from her slobbery sippy cup? Mmm, delicious.

He's done it again.

Grandpa, the ice cream man. Avery's new best friend. Glad someone could make her happy today.

Naptime Crafting.

It's impossible to craft with a little one around. Thank goodness she had a couple solid naps today so I could get it finished. I'll spare you the details, but long story short, I'm glad it'll brighten a little boy's birthday!

On the plus side, she's really good at helping with the laundry. She loves to pull the clothes out of the dryer. Pretty cute how proud she is of herself.

**I have to edit today's post and add these pictures from Brian's parents. They came and watched Avery tonight (and a bunch of other kids from the looks of it) at Brian's softball game so I could go to our Relief Society activity...the reason I made that birthday banner. It was a service auction and totally fun. I ended up getting a photo shoot for Avery. I'm pretty stoked. Oh, yeah, I'm sparing details. Thanks Nanny and Grandpa for hanging with the lady! And for the awesome pictures. I couldn't choose a favorite, so I had to post a bunch.
Nanny and her posse. Hilarious.

Who knew bracelets were so cool. I love the look Avery's shooting her buddy. She's like, "Back off girl, she's MY Nanny!"
