I had to run and check in with the dentist today to make sure my wisdom tooth is healing up fine. (It is, thanks for asking..) So Brian met me at the dentist and kept Avery entertained in the car for about 20 minutes. She would have loved it to have lasted all day. Freedom inside the car nearly blew her mind.

Grandma Great

and then fell asleep.

She actually fell asleep in my lap--that has NEVER happened before. And without a pacifier. I've got to figure out how to get rid of that thing. After her next big molar maybe I'll pull the plug. I'm just not quite ready for the fight. Any tips?

Interesting...

I pulled out the Christmas stuff today to decorate. I should have known better. It's gonna be an interesting holiday with a toddler. I refuse to keep it off limits, but I'd better ask Santa for some extra patience and maybe a few replacements.

Black Friday Bowling

My sister and her family came into town today, so instead of joining the crazy people black friday shopping, we opted for a day of eating leftovers, hanging outside in the beautiful sunshine, and an evening of bowling. Thanks for the fun and humiliation.

Avery loved all the balls. For a little while anyway.

This is a horrible picture, but I was seriously impressed she could hold 6 pounds like that.

We had such a great time with Nanny and Grandpa and all our Arnold family. We have lots to be thankful for this year and happy we got to share the day with people we love. Thanks!

Oh, and the day wouldn't be complete without a little post-dinner dance party. Avery was non-stop for quite awhile. She powered through without a nap and then died about a block after we strapped her in the car. Total trooper.

Recooping

My thoughts exactly little lady.

We're recooping today. Lots of picture books and music, and yes the T.V. And while I'm nursing a tooth loss, Avery keeps growing them in! Poor girl was chewing her fingers all day and you can see the new bottom molar in this picture. Lucky tooth #11.

When Daddy's In Charge

I left Brian in charge while I had a wisdom tooth pulled. What? Am I crazy for doing it two days before Thanksgiving? Maybe. The dentist asked me three separate times if I was sure I wanted it pulled now. I finally told him it was my new diet tactic so I didn't stuff myself on Thanksgiving. To that he replied, "Well, I'll yank it then!"

So, it's been yanked.

Southwest Killer Whale

That's the name of the fish we're taking care of for the week. Pretty exciting. Avery's loving it.

New Hat

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here...we even found SANTA CLAUS!

These two crack me up. Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum. Avery is Grandpa's little side kick whenever they're together. They have way too much fun.

Hooray!

We had a busy Saturday and got a lot done. While we were taking a break at home in between errands, Avery learned how to go forward on her bus!! Check out that proud face! (If you can find it under that hair....oh, that hair.)

She's always been really good at going backwards, but then we'd have to push her forward again. Maybe it has something to do with her rear-facing car seat. hmm... Anyway, she would just walk/waddle forward before, but now she's pushing herself! It's pretty cute. Man, she keeps getting bigger right before my eyes!

Have I mentioned lately how much I love that bus? It's such an eye sore, and I've stubbed my toe on it at least six times, but I've grown to love that yellow guy. I still can't believe I got it for 4 dollars. It's been our longest running toy, besides the Duplos, and Avery rides on it every day. If I'm every looking for something...a shoe...a fork...the keys...the bus it the first place I look. It can hold, well, a bus load.

I'm in trouble.

Trouble I tell ya. I have one of THOSE girls. You know. The kind you see at the store totally decked out in all their accessories. I'm afraid of those kind. I'm a sweatshirt and jeans kind of girl so this is all new to me.

She saw her jacket while I was hanging it up and insisted on wearing it. As well as the boots that are a size too big. I'm lucky I got out of her room this morning with just those additions. (I've been hiding her hats.) THEN she wanted MY shoe on top of hers and she was attempting to make the snack cup top a bracelet.

And don't get me started on her hair. That's a newborn headband. Why does she keep that on while it's squeezing her brain out her ears and not a single other thing I put in it? *sigh*...trouble.

So Sweet.

We stopped by my favorite lady's house tonight. I'm also lucky enough to call her Grandma. She's so sweet with Avery and I'm so glad my little one gets to have her in her life.

New Find

I scored this cool WeeRide bike seat the other day at the thrift store for eight bucks and I've been dying to try it out. Avery LOVED IT!


And of course she had to keep her "hat" on the rest of the night.

Shoes

Avery loves wearing shoes. Anyone's shoes. She's actually pretty good at walking in adult sizes. Pretty crazy. Well, I found a pair of crocs awhile ago and they are just a size too big now. They've become her favorites to prance around the house in. They'll be perfect next summer.


That's her new "CHEESE" face. Crazy girl.

TV and Tip-Toes

Yes, Avery got to watch TV today. On her tip-toes no less. She was in heaven. Me...not so much. I spent over three hours at the dentist today getting some work done. I hope no one ever has to experience the crown-whacker. Whew, just typing that makes me nauseous. It was NOT how I wanted to spend my Monday.

Anyway, this girl is so funny. Even though I feel lousy, she had me laughing today. She is learning the fine art of the "sneak attack."

I'm not sure, but Avery LOVED her! She's so cute. Her cousins brought over this dog today and we had so much fun.



I might have fallen for her as well.

She finally eats bananas! Skin included.



Please don't think I'm a terrible mother because of her orphan hair. I promise I would do it really cute if she'd let me. She shakes her head like a wet dog anytime I come close with a brush. I really don't want to cut her bangs because they've already grown out this far, but I also don't want to battle her every day about it. Any tips?

Memory Lane

We took Avery on a trip down memory lane today. My dad wanted to take Avery to the Fish Hatchery today and Brian and I thought it sounded super fun. When I was a kid, we used to come visit my Grandparents for Thanksgiving and the guys would take all the kiddies to the Hatchery to get us out of the kitchen while the ladies prepared a delicious meal.

I think the last time I was there I was ten years old, but the smell of the food and the rows and rows of fish haven't change. Even the nickel food dispensers are still there. We just happened to get lucky and be there when the food truck was, so we scored a whole bag full of food for FREE! Even cooler was watching the truck drive up and down the rows feeding the fish. It was amazing.

Anyway, if you haven't been for awhile, it's that time of year again! Call us up and we'll come along too!

PLUS...I've been stalking little tikes slides on Craigslist and FINALLY found the perfect one today. It's sitting in my garage ready for Santa to clean it up and set it up for my Avery Christmas morning.
